MY APPROACH

How I can help you

As a qualified Integrative Counsellor and psychotherapist, I offer a collaborative approach to assist you in finding your way through whatever you bring to the therapy room.  My approach draws from Person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT modalities, depending on your needs and what we agree to focus upon.  I am trauma trained and certified, so can support with you in managing your most difficult experiences.

I am trained and qualified in delivering Mindfulness-based interventions, having trained with Mindfulness Scotland during lockdown.  Mindfulness and self-compassion underpin my approach to counselling and psychotherapy and life in general, being a long-term meditator and experiencing the life-enhancing benefits for myself!

I have extensive experience supporting those with addictions and those who have experienced domestic abuse.  Life has many ways of impacting on us, from our internal narratives and the way we react to events in the broader world, health matters, family, work, society, culture, our personal experience, and that of those we love and care for, our bodies, to the unexpected events that come at us leftfield.  If you are experiencing or suffering the consequences of

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • stress

  • PTSD

  • trauma

  • bereavement or loss

  • domestic abuse

  • addictions

  • boarding school syndrome

  • family issues (conflict, separation/divorce, abuse, neglect, separation anxiety),

  • women's issues (menopause, fertility issues, postnatal depression)

  • gender identity issues and/or sexuality issues

  • men's issues

...I can offer you support to access your resilience and inner strength to manage and work through your challenges.

My early career was in education in prisons and with refugees and asylum seekers.

I am registered with national governing bodies BACP & COSCA and adhere to their ethical codes of practice.

Hiking Trail

Deciding to seek support from a counsellor is a significant step in life to proactively look after yourself.  Although it can be intimidating and daunting, it is an act of self-care in times of need when challenges in life seem overwhelming and you feel you could do with someone to share your burden, help you find solutions and a way through.  I am here to support you in your effort to restore you to your best self.
